I’m never too busy for good company. *Nuzzles back, settling his arms over hers* Nothing to do today, babe?
*Smiles, glancing at her from over his shoulder* Hey..
“He somehow managed to wriggle his greedy little self in between Jay and Tim and you… I really….really need to know how he managed that,” he growled, forcing Jase’s head so it was turned away from Damian, exposing his slowly bleeding cheek to Damian further. His fingers eased up on the boy and he chuckled at the broken gasp that escaped his younger self’s throat, rasping for breath while Jason allowed him to.
“Oh, I think he might be too stubborn for that, baby.. You might want to punish first and see if’ he’ll just crawl back and lick up the mess… S’what I always do,” he chuckled, letting it run off into a delighted cackle.
“He did? I don’t remember that happening, did I? Things are all a blur lately.” Damian shrugged it off, not at all caring for things of the past, before leaning in to drag his tongue against the cut he made. Blood always taste best fresh and the Harlequin made it clear his approval by nipping at the wound, licking up all the blood as the cut widen. “Awe, J, I really want to make him smile.”
Damian pulled back before turning to look at Jason. “I think he’ll start smiling once I give him a reason to, don’t you think so too?” He looked down at the blade in his hand before cheerfully grinning at Jase. “It’ll only hurt if you move, sweetums!”
Jase shuddered as Damian’s tongue smoothed over the cut, lapping up the blood. His lungs ached from the need of air, vision blurring for a moment, but Jason allowed him a moment to take air and he gasped, greedy and dizzy as he caught his breath. It gave him a bit of clarity and he lashed out as soon as he found himself able to.
There was a faint click when he stomped his foot, missing the older male’s, not wanting it as he swung his foot up, the blade hidden within his boot slid free and he nearly got Damian with it had it not been for Jason. He struggled but was slammed into the nearest wall, the other man making sure to bounce his head off the brick.
His knees went out from underneath him from the force of the blow, only his older self holding him up by his hair giving him any sort of stability. He stayed on his knees, head forced back as he was left to kneel before Harl and Jason, blood running thickly from the gash along his hairline, face already beginning to bruise.
His eyes narrowed, Jase swallowing down the catch in his throat as he glowered at the offered hand. He let the cig smolder in the corner of his mouth as he tipped his chin, acting as though he was unimpressed. ”Sorry, I just haven’t grown into liking clowns yet, I guess. I appreciate the offer…but I’m going to have to say fuck off, instead. No offense,” he shrugged, sarcasm dripping from his words like venom.
He didn’t like being trapped, but with a lack of any sort of armor or weapon, on top of how his body still not having adjusted back to being in top condition for any form of combat had his mind screaming to find a means to claw away and out of the situation.
Damian took back the hand, shrugging off the slight bit of hurt he felt. Not everyone can appreciate the darkness. Not everyone can appreciate him either. “No offense taken, bird boy. If I did take any offense, it’ll be just the sad fact that you are the boy that will become the man I love. It’s kinda weird to stare at you.” Damian took a few steps forward until he was practically right next to Jase.
“You know what. Actually, I change my mind.” Damian turned to smile sweetly at Jase, words candy coated. Then the hand he had offered to the boy came flying straight down upon Jase’s face. The sound of the slap was loud and sharp. Damian clenched his hand, lips still turned up into a sweet smile at the other male. “I do take offense after all. My J is such a lovely man. I don’t like what you’re insinuating with that clown comment.”
He took the hit, stepping back, face turned from the force of it. He hung his head, not turning to look at him as he reached up to touch already reddening skin. His fingers brushed his lip and when he looked to them he noted they were a bit bloodied. He worked his jaw, looking back to the other as he backed up more.
Too close, move your ass, Jase. Don’t fuck around.
“Yeah, about that.. I don’t see it happening this go around. I’m not much for smiling either,” he licked his lips, uncaring of the blood as he shifted, ready for a fight until he stepped back a final time and felt the solidity of an older male standing behind him. His eyes widened. How in the fuck had he not heard him??
Fuck. Jason.
“I can smell your fear from a mile away, sweetie. How ‘bout you stop thinking about running and just stay put before I make you, hm?” Damian cackled to himself, head tilting back before he tilted it to the side, lips stretching into a cold but somewhat still affectionate smile. “You know it’s oh so very hard to out run me. Not even your pretty little Jaybird will be able to keep me away for so long.”
The Harlequin stretched before leaping off the building, landing gracefully on the ground just a few feet away from Jase. Behind the domino, black like the original Harley, Damian was watching the younger man with a sense of wonder. How long has it been? The poor boy knew absolutely nothing about what was going to come to him. “Come here, sweetums, and I promise to play nice.” Damian reached out a hand toward Jase.
“I won’t hurt you too much, Jase. You know I care.”
Boy, did Damian remember this place. It seemed almost like years ago when Damian had been working here. He also vaguely remember having quite a bit of in the club as well, on and off time. But now, he had a better definition of enjoyment and he was about to share it with his teen-era sweetheart.
The Harlequin, stretched while keeping an eye on the door. If the person that walks through isn’t the one he’s expecting, the man or woman better be prepared to get hurt. Usually, Damian wouldn’t mind waiting around but after weeks of missing his Jason only to find out where the man was, he was damn well tired of being patient.
So when Jase finally came out to take a breather, Damian couldn’t help the joy he felt at watching someone so dear to him look like an innocent child all over again. Just rip for teasing, actually. “Smoking isn’t very good for you. Haven’t you heard of that, sweetie?” The Harlequin, or better known as Harls as of late, found himself perching on a nearby window sill, legs kicking in the air as he grinned down at Jase. “Won’t Jay be angry at you?”
Jase started, looking up sharply to the other male. He felt his heart drop instantly.
Oh shit…. Shit.
He swallowed, fighting down the urge to reach into his back pocket for his phone. There was no way he could text Jay in time before the other male pounced him. Blurry memories he’d gotten from his brief merge with his future self played back in his mind and he knew just how vicious this Damian could be. He could stall, maybe. Keep moving for the bike, or at least get out of such a narrow space, get back to the street where he’d have more room to move.
“Yeah, I’ve heard it, but I think we both know how much I care about it. Right, D?” he asked, taking a drag to help soothe his nerves and continue the illusion of calm.
A sigh of relief escaped him as he stepped out into the cool night air, free of the neon lights and the thick heat of Nightingale. Jase carded his fingers through his hair, heading down the alley to where he had parked his bike, fishing through his jacket pockets for his cigarettes as he moved.
It had been a fairly successful night, only a few private parties and no mishaps in the back to keep him running. He’d gotten off two hours before, but the music blaring through the sound system had kept his attention and he’d actually gone down to watch Dick perform. He was still buzzing from the older bird’s show, loving how high the energy climbed during that entire set.
He bounced on his feet a bit, pace quickening as he brought a cigarette to his lips, flicking his zippo to life and lighting it before he took a drag.
*Nuzzles at her neck, making a soft contented noise*
-shivers in his hold- U-um… Jase…
Hm? *Rests his chin on her shoulder, wrapping his arms around her waist*
Christ you’re attractive…” he mumbled, hugging Jay tighter for a moment.
-lets out a quiet gasp, arching a bit into him-
*Nuzzles at her neck, making a soft contented noise*
